If your little ones have been wanting to give climbing a try (or are already trying it around the house!) then these courses are the perfect introduction on how to do it safely. Our friendly, fully qualified instructors have years of experience introducing kids and adults alike to the world of bouldering and roped climbing. They’ll make every child feel welcome and ensure they feel as confident and safe as possible throughout the day. You can meet our coaches here.
These sessions are exclusively held in half terms and school holidays. We try to make these available to book a week or two before the holiday begins. You can stay up to date with our seasonal sessions by signing up to emails (we’ll only use your email for important centre updates and new courses.)

Intro to Bouldering
Duration: 1 x 60 mins
What it is: For teenagers, Highball’s Intro to Bouldering course is the quickest way to get bouldering in the centre independently. We cover the basic techniques and crucial safety precautions you need to climb unsupervised in the future. (Please note, independent climbing requires sign off from an instructor who is confident you can climb safely and considerately without instruction.)
Duration: 2 x 75 mins
What it is: A comprehensive introduction to the world of bouldering. Over the two sessions, we’ll cover everything you need to know to start bouldering safely and effectively. Working in a group, we’ll cover bouldering techniques, how to minimise the risks, climbing wall etiquette and even some of the lingo.
Roped Climbing School
Duration: 2 x 90 mins
What it is: In the Highball Roped Climbing School, participants will be introduced to the basics of roped climbing. It includes putting on a harness, tying in to a rope using a figure-of-eight knot, and some basic belaying. We will also go through some climbing techniques and explore different hold types on the wall.
