We are sorry to announce that due to fewer than expected entrants, we will be cancelling this weekend’s East Anglian Bouldering Championships.
We have been running competitions and events for over a decade and this is the first event we have ever cancelled.
Competitions, especially those with finals, result in significant disruption to both customers and our operation for a number of days around the event. We pride ourselves on hosting amazing comp events but, given the number of entrants, we simply cannot justify the disruption and the impact to our regular customers and community.
We are committed to the UK competition scene and supporting the development of ‘comps’ at local, regional and national level. We see a future where competitions across the country are connected and coordinated in such a way that both aspirant athletes and recreational competitors have a clear pathway, from grassroots to International athlete.
The concept of an East Anglian Championship is something we continue to believe in and we will continue to talk with other local walls about how we develop a vibrant regional competition scene.
Many of you will have been training hard for this weekend and others were looking forward to watching. It was to be our only major comp event this side of Christmas so, we’ve reviewed our scheduling and decided we can run a comp night, with a grand final under the lights, on the evening of Tuesday 28th November.
More info to be released soon.. so keep training!
