The Flash Social Competition
Friday 10th October
6.30pm – 9.30pm
The Flash Social is just around the corner – so here’s a sneaky look at the scorecards!
We’ve included more youth categories this year;
VETERAN (ages 45+)
SENIOR (ages 17-44)
YOUTH U17 (ages 15-16)
YOUTH U15 (ages 13-14)
YOUTH U13 (ages 11-12)
YOUTH U11 (ages 6-10)
Once you’ve got the basic information out of the way, you can start recording your climbs!
Let’s take a look at the scoresheet…
‘Flash Attempt’ : You got to the top of the route on your first go.
‘Second’, ‘Third’ & ‘Other Attempts’ : You got to the top of the route after a few tries.
‘Zone Only’ : You managed to use the ‘Zone hold’, however you didn’t get to the top of the climb. (If you’re not sure what a Zone is, I’ll explain a little further down!)
‘No Top or Zone’ : While you didn’t manage to use the ‘Zone’ or top the climb, ticking this box shows that you still attempted that route.
So, what is a ‘Zone‘?
A ‘Zone’ or ‘Zone hold’ is a marked hold, usually half-way through the route. Using this hold can earn you points on routes you can’t finish.
‘Zone holds’ must be held with control, you can’t just jump and tap it!
‘Zone Only’ can ONLY be ticked if you didn’t reach the top of that route.
If you select two boxes for one problem then your score for that problem will not be counted.
I hope this quick guide helps you navigate competition scoring, but if you have any problems, come and talk to a member of staff and we’ll help however we can!
See you Friday!
