From the 1st of December, 2022, Highball will be trialling a new safety measure for users of the roped wall and auto-belays. We are asking customers to display coloured tags on their harnesses so that Highball Crew can see at a glance what climbers are signed off for when doing floor walks. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and to confirm that climbers have completed the correct waiver form.
The tags are coloured Green for top-rope and lead climbing, and Orange for auto-belay use only. Anyone being supervised on either ropes or auto-belays will not have a tag. Tags can be collected at the reception desk, please attach them to your harness in an obvious but unobtrusive location.
The trial period will last for 3 months and we would welcome any feedback you have during that time. At the end of the trial, we will make a decision on whether to keep the measures in place or not. Other centres have introduced this measure successfully, and initial feedback here at Highball suggests that people think it is a good idea.
